Topaz is a silicate mineral of aluminum and fluorine commonly used in jewelry. Common topaz is naturally colorless, but elemental impurities can give it colors from pale blue, golden brown, to yellow orange. The rarest colors of natural topaz are pinks, reds, and golden oranges. Topaz is one of the hardest naturally occurring minerals.
