Kunzite is the pink variety of Spodumene. Named after gemologist George F. Kunz who first discovered it in Connecticut, Kunzite is typically found in Brazil, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Madagascar. Kunzite can fade from prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light, so it should not be displayed in direct sunlight. It is a dichroic mineral, meaning it shows two different colors depending on the angle it is viewed from.

This beautiful specimen of Kunzite is from Kunar Province, Pakistan. It has natural terminations, and pronounced striations an both sides. This piece exhibits a lovely light pink color when viewed face on. Viewed on edge, you can see the dichroic properties of the specimen with its darker shade of pink.
