This polished slab of the Seymchan pallasite meteorite contains olivine crystals in an iron-nickel matrix. Pallasites are a rare type of meteorite, with only 61 known to date.

Seymchan is a pallasite meteorite found in the dry bed of the river Hekandue in the Magadan district in Russia near the settlement of Seymchan. It was discovered in June of 1967 during a survey by geologist F. A. Mednikov. The main mass was 272.4 kg (600 lbs) and a second specimen of 51 kg (112 lbs) was discovered about 20 meters away in October 1967.

During a new expedition in 2005, Dmitri Kachalin recovered about 50 kg of new material. About 20% of the new material was found to contain olivine crystals.
